Sandy Creek Covered Bridge
This covered bridge was once used on a daily basis; I have driven across it myself several times. It is now a State Park and the road to the bridge is closed. It is located in Jefferson County Missouri; the first county south of St. Louis county.
The bridge is one of three Howe-truss bridges remaining in Missouri. It is 74 feet 6 inches long and 18 feet 10 inches wide with an entrance height of 13 feet. The original bridge was built in 1872 but destroyed by high water in 1886. It was rebuilt in August of the same year at a cost of $899
